In the morning of June 5, nearly one hundred Chinese entrepreneurs held the second session of the first council of "Alxa SEE Ecological Association" at the round meeting room of Alxa Moon Lake to elect Executive Council members and Supervisory Committee members. Liu Xiaoguang was elected chairman of "Alxa SEE Ecological Association", Wang Shi, Han Jiahuan, Gao Wenyu, Song Jun and Zhang Shuxin vice chairmen. The following is the comments delivered by Chairman Liu Xiao.
Liu Xiaoguang: The manuscript of this speech was readily prepared but not for chairman , however, I am the elected chairman, anyway I should make a speech too today.
Ladies and gentlemen, every old friend and new friend, first I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to you for your trust and support to me! I declare openly here, that I will never let you down, I will live up to your trust, and will certainly try my best to remain the same from beginning to end, care about more, and persuade more people to join us, for desert control is a great career of us. I would like to talk about three ideas at the meeting today, just for your comments.
First, we are creating the history. From the very beginning on, we‘ve been embraced by a sense of sanctity, feeling that we are working together on a great career, and we are creating a kind of history. It is the first time in China history that so many entrepreneurs get together to manage the desert. We join hands to create the future, and whether the beginning is good or not is determined by us all, which means that we can not fail, we can not afford to fail, and we have to be responsible for history.
Second, public trust determines our existence. SEE Ecological Association and SEE Foundation have just been established, but they are very fragile and must live on extensive resources from public trust. The Hope Project of our country is well done, and it has very great social influence, but there is still something nonstandard, which results in bad effect. Therefore, what we need is a standardized, open and transparent management system, in which everybody reminds each other of their responsibilities. The right and obligation of supervision belong to Mr Ma the bank president.
Third, the international fund determines our development capital. Nongovernmental environmental and public service organizations in China are supported by foreign fund at present. China is very poor, and Chinese enterprises are really small. It is still a long way to let our bosses take out more money to put into the public service, for which we’ve been striving. Except environmental protection departments, non-government organizations in China are still very small. Though fresh, SEE – an organization established by one hundred Chinese entrepreneurs -- possesses enormous strength that foreign organizations cannot afford to ignore. Organizations seeking development in China give us considerable support annually, say, millions of foreign capital, hoping to cooperate with strong Chinese NGOs. If we gain their trust and attention, and become their partnership, we can connect with talent pools of the powerful international organizations.
Fourth, project is the base. In business language, NGO is an environmental protection organization raising fund from the society through projects under a so-called Project System, The public is willing to give money to such NGOs, strongly convinced that they can be manage the projects better. Design work of environmental protection projects for public welfare is subject to regulation. We centralize on the work of desert control, with serious analysis and concrete planning, to establish the projects. Experts both at home and aboard are invited to estimate on them, and then the funds are raised. Investment by our council members is mainly used for soft environment such as planning, design, fund raising, etc, while the raised money is used for the hard projects. Project design, capital management and project implementation will be carried out by the prospective foundation, and we need a large number of professionals and volunteers.
Fifth, the work of SEE Foundation. We will make preparations for this foundation in the future and the Executive Council members will have to discuss the relationship between SEE Ecological Association and SEE Foundation.
Sixth, future goal. We are going to turn SEE Foundation into an Asia’s top ranking and internationally influential public service organization specialized in sandstorm control. The control of sandstorm area including work of many aspects, such as biological protection, protection of local culture, tree planting, grass growing, etc. Our main task is to control sandstorms, and all our work is launched around this. We will start up Alxa projects as soon as possible, and try to set up a qualified example. This is our work, which receives extensive recognition from all walks of society and international community. In my opinion, we will have billions of money in no more than ten years, provided that we work hard on management standardization, project improvement and active international involvement, we will try to make a century brand name like U.S. National Geographic Society for generations to come.
Seventh, we ourselves are a network. It is difficult for us to get together, and meet each other this time. We should warn each other among us, to develop together. This is not only a platform of sandstorm control, but also a high platform for economic interaction and precious career platform of us all. I firmly believe our common career can develop further, and the career of everyone here will benefit from each other and become more prosperous. Thank you.
