Formal Signature of Volunteer Funding Project with Italian Ministry of Environment

　　On April 8, 2004, the signature ceremony of a memorandum about Italian Government’s voluntary contribution to Beijing Municipal Government for the environmental protection project was held in Beijing. At 19 o'clock, Mr Shi Hanming, Director General of Beijing Environmental Protection Agency, on behalf of Chinese Government, and Mr. Corrado Clini, chief of the International Department, Ministry of Environment and Territory of Italy, on behalf of Italian Government signed the memorandum under the amicable atmosphere in Jiying Hall on the third floor of Beijing Jade Palace Hotel, .

　　The project of Alxa Desert ecology control included in the memorandum shall be implemented jointly by the Environmental Protection Agency of Beijing and Beijing Capital Group, mainly for the purpose of protection, improvement and control of desert ecological environment in Alxa area, Inner Mongolia.

　　Proposed by Liu Xiaoguang, the General Manager of Beijing Capital Group and leader of the preparatory group of Alxa SEE Ecological Association on his visit, accompanied by Beijing Municipal Government, to Italy at the end of 2003, this project has already started up thanks to the concerted efforts by both parties. This is the first international support for Alxa SEE Ecological Association, a lofty and tough undertaking deserving of more philanthropic contributions from home and abroad!
